Children's Services: Service

Wimmera Occupational Therapy works with young people from 0-18 to help them grow, develop and achieve.

We will invest time in getting to know you and developing a clear plan of how we can work together to ensure your needs, routines and expertise about your child align with the therapy services we deliver.

As well as direct intervention we are able to provide a range of assessments and reports, plus consultation to support your child’s participation in community and school environments and in accessing funding. We will work with you to navigate and access the services and funding you need.

Most importantly, we acknowledge that parents are the key to their child’s therapy gains and through therapy we aim to empower parents to confidently support their chid every step of the way.

Wimmera Occupational Therapy utilises extensive knowledge  of working with children with developmental delays and disabilities including Autism Spectrum Disorders, Cerebral Palsy, Genetic Disorders and other Physical and Intellectual disabilities.

We can provide support in the following areas:

    •    Play Skills

Play is the work of children and provides them with the skills to learn and grow. We can support development of imaginative, social and independent play. We can support you to engage in play with them at their current level.

    •    Sensory processing

Sensory processing refers to the way we receive, understand and use sensory information, including how it impacts on participation and behaviour. We can provide assessment of sensory processing at home or school including looking at the impact of their sensory profile on their behaviour and skill acquisition. We can also develop strategies to support their sensory profile and participation.

    •    Motor Skill Development
